Qué visitar en Calcuta- What to visit in Kolkata

During the British occupation of India, Calcutta (Kolkata) was one of the highlights of establishment of invasive government and became the capital of British India for long. Headquarter of East India Company, sole traders in that part of the world, its expansion and increasing importance were under purely British guidelines, which even today are the main features of this Asian city.

Victoria Memorial:

This imposing white marble monument was built to honor Queen Victoria of England after his death in 1901. It is now a major museum that refers to the history of India under British rule through sculptures, paintings and documents.
St. Paul's Cathedral:
Very close to the Victoria Memorial is this Gothic cathedral decorated with frescoes and stained glass reminiscent of Canterbury Cathedral in England.
Indian Museum:
This museum is the largest and the oldest in India. Open only until 4:30 pm, it has an amazing collection of bronze sculptures, skeletons of elephants.mummies, ancient armor, paintings and many curiosities. Considered one of the oldest museums in the world deserves more than one visit.Monitoring the entrance is quite strict and do not allow visitors access to any type of bag or even purse, if you want to carry a camera must pay an extra fee. The place to store belongings does not generate much trust, really, so I advise you to go prepared. No selling catalogs or any other kind of book with photos of the exhibits, so we should consider the surcharge at the rate for the camera ...

Park Street Cemetery:
This Christian cemetery is truly an oasis of tranquility for a break from the hustle and relentless heat of the city. Built in 1760 was one of the first Christian cemeteries that are not built on the grounds of a church.
