The "washer man", is a man whose job consist in washing by hand and ironing other people's clothes for a few rupees (local currency) It is, like almost all jobs in India, an inherited profession from father to son.

Suelen tener muchos clientes.
Most of them don´t work at home. They carry the clothes with the help of a donkey to the river for washing them even nowadays some of them have motorclycles too. Then they have peddler with a table with wheels for easy movement and they can be placed in any alley or roadside. They usually have many customers.
For doing their job they use the ancient board iron plates heated with coal.
We must take care not to give them delicate clothes because usually they washes them in the river and hung them to dry in unexpected places (for us). You should not be surprised to find your clothes hanging somewhere nearby or attached with wire hangers against any other shop! :)
