Aroma a YAK

Yak are essential for life in Tibet. They survive up to 6000 meters above sea level and its thick fur protects them from extreme temperatures of the mountains. They're very good for carrying heavy items. Tibetans eat their meat, elaborate cheese and butter with their milk and make candles with their fat. Their manures are essential for fuel and their fur is used to make blankets, coats and clothing. Yak butter is used in the majority of Tibetan dishes and even used in the tea with a little of salt. Their meat is sold on the streets of Lhasa. I also saw cheese, candles, grease and oil in street stalls.

Tibetan temples are very dark and they are lit only with oil of yak lamps. This gives a very distinctive scent and appearance to the environment.
The roofs of the temples are also decorated with ornaments made from yak hair.
